Six Reasons Why You Should Choose GETAWAY As Your Sailing Center:
1. Planned Curriculum
We offer a complete range of sailing instruction from the basics to advanced
techniques; and, the courses follow a well planned continuum so that you
can progress from beginner to accomplished sailor in a logical path, and
at your own pace. You can start as early as 7 years old and continue long
after you are eligible for the Silver Sailors Club (50 yrs.+). When you
feel comfortable taking a boat out by yourself you can join our club which
provides unlimited access to a fleet of boats. With such a broad range
of programs we can assist you to realize your seafaring dreams, whatever
they are.
2. American Sailing Association Affiliation
As an official training facility of the American Sailing Association
we are authorized to certify graduates of our courses at the
ASA levels. Log books and certification examinations are available.
3. Small Classes
All classes are small and a student-to-instructor ratio of 4:1 is maintained
which insures that each student will receive plenty of one-on-one instruction.
4. Great Boats
Getaway Sailing owns all of the sailboats which are used for instruction.
Each boat has been purchased with the instructional program in mind to
insure that a boat of appropriate type and size is used in each course.
5. Weather Policy
Getaway Sailing adheres to a unique "Fair Weather Policy" which
means that if the weather is not suitable for learning the sailing skills
attendant to the instruction, you will be invited back to take the instruction
that you missed due to the bad weather. We provide rain gear for our students.
6. Ideal Location
Getaway Sailing is ideally located. The sailing conditions are excellent
in the deep, sheltered waters contiguous to the Getaway docks; and, it
is an easy sail down the Patapsco River, past Fort McHenry, to the entrance
to the Chesapeake Bay and the finest cruising spots on the Bay. Our offices
and boats are located at the Baltimore Marine Center in Canton on the Patapsco
River near Fells Point and the Inner Harbor only minutes from downtown
Baltimore.
